Family pride is what two specific gentlemen derive from these tanks found across the New York City sky. These two gentlemen inherited the rivalry of their families in the business of wooden tanks and these families have been at it for almost a century.

The altitude upon which these tanks are set up plus the presence of strong winds make the whole arrangement hazardous.
Rooftop tanks are made of redwood or cedar staves and galvanized iron hoops, installed on the rooftop itself. During winter, the party hat shaped cover traps air inside to keep the tank insulated and on ordinary days, it protects the tank from rain, snow and contaminants.
